Cahuenga Elementary School, 220 S. Hobart Blvd. is wonderful. I have completed for this year ending with the Christmas story "Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer", but my first graders are the best or should I say outstanding, absolutely beautiful, they enjoyed and participated in all of the stories that I had read to them, they related to all of the Characters and allowed themselves be part of the actions "like, what is another word for sad or happy?" "What makes us different and special because its a gift and we are all born with it?" "Believe and Faith?", and so on. On my first day, I started reading to them about "FLIK THE INVENTOR", and the kids related and understood in keeping a dream alive, never quitting when you believe in yourself and what you are doing. Their teacher was so impressed on how they asked me many questions after my readings. Sometimes I paused and let them ask me some questions before the story was over. That was telling me how well they really were listening and relating to the stories. "PLANET EARTH" is one of the best, they were so good and responding to the story as it regards the mountains, valleys, caves, rivers, lakes, deserts, oceans, volcanoes, earthquakes, hurricanes and tornadoes. Again, their teacher was so impressed on the books that I selected to bring with me to read as a Book Pal, she requested that I read more about the "World and Science", because these are the things she is teaching them. Her children loves it, they are so smart and bright. I have a very smart group of kids and I love it, they keeps me very alert and aware too. They are very polite and mannerly. I got to say this, "they are so smart, they can make you forget that you are reading to first graders, they comprehend like very smart six graders".
On my last day Tuesday, December 6 2011 they stood up and embrace me with a big smile and said "We love you Ms. Gigi, thank you for your time with us and being our Book Pal, and have a "Happy and Blessed Christmas and A Happy New Year!" All I could say is "How lucky can I get to share these moments with such beautiful kids". I was so overwhelmed with their appreciation with me coming every Tuesdays reading to them and they love me as their Book Pal. On New Year's first Tuesday, I shall return and open up with "LIVING PLANET"
We didn't get to take pictures, but will have some in the New Years.
Have a Safe and Happy Holidays
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
